Christopher (Chris) Hannigan is a talented seasoned executive with 27+ years of experience in strategy, marketing, and management. He brings a wealth of expertise having worked on many of America’s favorite brands with particular strengths in areas such as brand positioning, new product introductions & innovation, P&L management, team development and long-term strategy development. With an abundance of retail food & beverage experience in multiple categories, Chris has a strong understanding of various channels of retail trade, food service, and distribution systems in North America.
Chris currently serves as Chief Executive Officer, Board Member, and Investor of Mama Torrez Salsa Company in Spokane Valley, WA. Chris was appointed CEO in 2022 by a syndicate of private equity investors looking to scale Mama Torrez growth in the Western US.
Prior to joining Mama Torrez, Chris was the Vice Preside of Sales & Marketing at Tree Top, Inc., in Selah, WA where he was responsible for all retail and food service business. While at Tree Top, Chris grew revenue and profits by double digits every year he was there.
Chris also led a $750 million portfolio of brands at Ventura Foods, in the Los Angeles area, that included Marie’s Salad Dressing, Dean’s Dips, LouAna Cooking Oil, and a large assortment of Private Label offerings. Chris had a full P&L responsibility while working closely with cross functional team members to manage the business as well as led multiple agency relationships which included advertising, media, research, and consumer call center organizations.
Prior to joining Ventura Foods, Chris was the Vice President of Marketing and Strategy at a smaller, family-owned specialty food manufacturer, Mezzetta. Despite limited resources, Chris made significant contributions to the growth of the company and provided much needed strategic direction and focus. He institutionalized and developed annual business plans that outlined key objectives and strategies to achieve business goals.
Chris also spent two years at Del Monte Foods leading their product innovation initiatives and nine years at Kraft managing many of the Company’s flagship brands such as JELL-O, Capri Sun and Kool-Aid. While at Kraft, Chris launched Kool-Aid Jammers which was named one of IRI’s Top 10 Pacesetters in 2001 for achieving over $100 Million in sales in its first year.
Chris’ work has been featured in publications such as Brandweek, Packaging Digest, Deli Business and has made appearances on nationally broadcast TV shows such as Lifetime’s Balancing Act.
Chris is also a Mentor to Austin, TX- based organization SKU, a brand accelerator organization helping scale founder-owned consumer packaged goods companies. He has also been host and speaker for traveling business classes from Texas A&M University and Thunderbird School of Global Management.
In addition to his executive career, Chris has served as Vice Chairman of the Board at the United Way of Central Washington. He has been a donor, guest speaker and volunteer at Community Healing Gardens, a Venice, CA- based local not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) focused of providing fresh vegetables to the hungry who are in need of proper health and nutrition.
Chris resides in Spokane, WA with his wife, Sara, and son, Wyatt.
